What I Learned About Wedding Planning

Wedding planning is such a fun + sweet time.. if you let it be. A bonus for me was I didn’t have too many opinions from others trying to influence me in planning and the opinions I did get… I honestly shut it down fast. I asked for help when I needed it but ultimately it was Jacob + I’s decision. There were somethings I was adamant about and some I didn’t care too much about.

Since I’ve been married, I have had several people ask me for my advice and my number one thing I’ve said and will always say is…

Do want YOU want!

It’s YOUR day. No one else’s… therefore… it’s really okay not to do what they say. This was nice because Jacob + I paid for the majority of our day and what my parents contributed they didn’t fight me on anything I wanted (Thank you Momma + Daddy for being so great at this!). I’ve heard horror stories of parents and in-laws and siblings and everything in between overly giving their opinion when it is highly unnecessary.

Obvi.. be considerate of others but do you….

Another thing I learned during wedding planning….
splurge on the memories + things you really care about, save on others.

I wanted a videographer…so we added that to the budget.
I didn’t care as much about the flowers so we went with a cheaper vendor.
I wanted fun food- so we went with a local mexican grill instead of a sit down caterer… sry but im over traditional wedding meals… mexican food is my fav + it’s so fun. Our cocktail hour was chips + queso and everyone raved about it.

I was also particular about certain aspects of the night…
I wanted fun- dance music so I sent the DJ a specific lists of songs I like and do not like. I honestly hate line dances so I made it clear the only one I wanted played was Crank That Soulja Boy. So tell your vendors what you want and don’t want!

I chose a bartender where we could choose the alcohol and we provide it. We went to Sam’s and bought it in bulk. We used boxed wine… shh no one knows lol but we put our fav bottles on display.

Don’t stress about things. Yes- there are stressful moments but it’s not that difficult to plan a wedding. There are so many checklists online, trust me you’ll be fine. I did it in 5 months and honestly I thought that was too long. I also knew what I wanted which was important. If you’re not sure what you want go for simple and classic- it’ll never fail you.

Looking back on the day, I would not have changed a thing. Maybe done something about all the bugs from the rain the day before lol but that was beyond my control. + that’s how I think everyone’s day should be- nO R@gretz lolz

What is your biggest lessons/advice from wedding planning?

#WeddingWednesday My Day Of Wedding Timeline

One of the most difficult things I found about wedding planning was creating the day of timeline. I stressed over this for days. I did not have a wedding planner… and I didn’t think I needed one + they’re crazy expensive. I think I did pretty okay on my own except for this one area. Everywhere online gave me zero help in creating a timeline. Either I had to pay for one or the free ones gave zero info….I wanted one detailed bc I didn’t want any hiccups to happen the day of my wedding… and to my knowledge nothing did go wrong. So I complied timelines and spoke to my photographer, hair stylists, and other vendors to create this timeline that I’m giving to you all for free.

Please share with your friends and reach out with any questions or help about creating a timeline. Obviously this timeline is created for my specific wedding, a 6pm ceremony in August. I did not have grandparents walk down the aisle (that is why they are seated before the processional begins) + I had 9 bridesmaids plus my mom and mother of the groom so that’s why getting ready took so long. Advise with your hair stylist! So take that as you will.

I hope sharing this helps some brides out there in the same boat I was in!

#WeddingWednesday Honeymoon in Cancun!

The Food

The Views

 The Boos (;

We had the most incredible time in Cancun! We stayed at El Dorado Royal Casitas by Karisma. We were in the Casitas portion of the resort. Our room had an outdoor shower, outdoor bed, our own pool which linked to the lazy river to the main pool with the swim up bar. We had 24 hour room service and a morning butler and an evening butler.
Basically, it was heavenly.. except the humidity lol

We spent each of our days at the pool lounging.. napping.. ordering room service. It was so simple and peaceful. Everyone was so friendly and the food was delish! I ordered chips + guac every day + the occasional taco and quesadilla plate.

We did one excursion together.. we went snorkeling at the near by reefs. It was beautiful.. but I would be lying if I said I had a blast bc I had a freak out bc I hate water so that was fun. lol

We were so sad to leave but excited to start real life together. We really want to be able to go back sometime soon!
